Random indeed.

Post name: related to the date (with a questioning statement of excitement)

First line: repeated statement of excitement (linked to a Boundless article on belonging to a large family)

Second line: admission of randomness (somehow associated to a recent post of mine)

Let me see if I can guess how this went:
(1) Laedelas reads (yet another) interesting article on Boundless
(2) Laedelas says "I should link to that on my blog"
(3) Laedelas realizes she doesn't really have a full post, and thus can't think of an appropriate post name
(4) Laedelas realizes that this is her first post of the new year
(5) Laedelas decides that the post can be used to ring in the new year
(6) Laedelas can't decide whether the new hear is an exciting thing, or a partly-exciting/partly-scary thing
(THUS ENDS THE [PRESUMED] STORY OF THE POST'S NAME)
(8) With the happier half of the post-naming sentiment still on her mind (combined with her affection for large families), Laedelas decides to repeat the keyword of her post name
(THUS ENDS THE [PRESUMED] STORY OF THE POST'S FIRST LINE)
(9) Realizing how random this post is turning out to be, Laedelas types an admission of randomness
(10) Further realizing that this is the totality of her first post in over 3 weeks (and that it's been a bit longer since she posted anything of considerable length), Laedelas decides that her blog may have fallen to the boring level of a friend's (and inserts another link)
(THUS ENDS THE [PRESUMED] STORY OF THE SECOND LINE)

I'm dying to know what happened to your seventh point, Jason! You are mostly right (good analysis!), except that #2 should read: Laedelas says, "I want to read this again but I also want to share it with some friends...Oh! I'll link to it on my blog so I read it again later and those who are interested can also peruse it!

I linked to your ode because I have lots of half-baked ideas that yearn to be blogged, but sit in my drafts folder. Ergo the uncomfortable silence on my blog. In no way am I saying that your blog has stooped to the level of mine :-)

Darn! I should've known. That's one of the reasons I star items in Google Reader -- besides the fact that they're good, I'll know where I can find them!

As far as who's blog may be stooping to which level... all silent blogs sound the same. (So maybe it's not so much a stooping as falling off a cliff.)

So Laedelas... when's your next post?

Happy, Dave? :-)

By the way, I still can't come up with a good step (7)

It's good to see you've posted again, or else I would've wondered whether it really was a fatal omission.

"oboblize"
To mangle a situation to the point where it causes disproportionate consequences

(7) could have suffered several deaths (speaking of being fatal), so perhaps the omission wasn't purposeful?

I will have to note that "oboblize" and "SNAFU" are synonymous in my thesaurus.
